Hello 2006

It feels nice to be in the new year for several reasons. There is a new hope from the new year. There is a certain enigma surrounding it as well which makes you expect more out of it. You also do not want to repeat the mistakes which you committed the last year. New year is the time for resolutions and mine are ready to be implemented. I want to focus more on improving upon my drawing skills apart from continuing to pursue my research in Usability engineering. Most of my resolutions are made on my birthday to be implemented till the next one comes. Most importantly, I really wish that 2006 brings joy and prosperity to everyone’s lives :-)

Although it’s a bit late to write about it but I have to mention it anyway. Asha, our very active brand manager at TCS had invited some close colleagues over to her house for the new year’s celebration on the 30th. This was of course the first time that I was visiting her place just like the rest of the team. Her house is FABULOUS with the terrace attached to it. She lives at Lamington Road (Grant Road) which is dwarfed by all the skyscrapers around it. Her house is at least 50 years old and is on the brink of being demolished to allow reconstruction for a tall structure. I only wish it doesn’t happen. It will destroy the beauty of the house not to mention that the terrace will no longer be present in the new house. We all settled nicely on the soft pillows in the terrace, chatting and eating in the chilly December night. In between we received several calls from our other TCSers in the US wishing us for the new years and they would be missing this get together, I am sure. It was the most wonderful time I have had for a long time :-)

Today being the New Year, I am looking forward to my annual dinner treat with my mom :-)

Goodbye 2005

Phew! the year is over before I could imagine it would but I am not complaining here. Personally 2005 has been a good year for me where I gained a lot of good things. The positives far outweighed the negatives like never before and that has thrilled me beyond comparison. The last time that I remember it happened to me was in 1995 – when I was in my 4th year in art college. I made quite a few friends and roamed the country too. That was also a good year in all respects because I scored some good marks as well.

Yoohoo! Adit’s Here!

AdityaVery rarely do I express my feelings in such a manner but it feels happy/elated to be in the company of my nephew Aditya whose on a 3 week visit to India from Hong Kong after almost a year. He’s here to stay with his Nani (a mom’s mother is known as Nani in India) and me for the longish weekend that we’re having for the Christmas. He’s all of 5 years but more mature then most in his age group and he’s learned to do things on his own which includes taking fine pictures with his dad’s digital camera. I got to see the demo yesterday :-)

That Sinking Feeling Again

Imagine having some kind of a button which could shut my system down for a given period. That would mean shutting my mind off all the bad things of the day and cleansing it forever. Going into some sort of a coma and waking up the next day absolutely unaware of the happenings of the previous day. If only my wishes would come true now I would have used that boon today because it was a BAD BAD day for me.

Merry Christmas Folks

Santa ClausIt has been very windy and chilly in Mumbai these days. Very strange. But then after the July 26 aftermath, I am convinced that anything is possible here and we have to be prepared even for snowfall. As a precautionary measure I carry my favourite red pullover in my bag. It came handy today when I started feeling really cold sitting under the A/C vent. Today was also the day when the Maitree group sang christmas carols for us as we gathered at the 11th floor reception. I was never enthusiastic for such a thing because I was deliberately dragged out of a meeting to be present there. They sang Michael Jackson’s ‘Heal the World’ which lightened up my face. It’s my favourite all time song :-)

Tomorrow is the last day of a great week after which we take a 3 day long break for the christmas. Here’s wishing all the visitors of my website a very Merry Christmas.
