PlayStation Virtual Reality

The Paris Games Week (PGW) concluded last week and I watched the PlayStation media event.

What has fascinated me from the beginning with the PlayStation (PS) console is the ‘Uncharted’ (UC) and ‘InFamous’ titles. ‘Uncharted – Among Thieves’ was the first title (Part 2 in the series actually) that I got my hands on , and I was completely stunned with the gameplay and the graphics. It’s much like watching a movie actually. After that I have played almost all the ‘Uncharted’ titles to date. The much anticipated ‘Uncharted 4 – A Thief’s End’ was announced at the PGW to be released on 18-March 2016, it’s the last title in this ambitious series. The sadness over its culmination has overtaken the excitement from the launch. Guerrilla Games’ ‘Horizons Zero Dawn’ was good in terms of gameplay.

But the highlight of the event for me was definitely the demonstration of PlayStation VR. While Facebook has longterm goals for Oculus, Sony has already announced some terrific exclusive titles like ‘Robinson – The Journey’ for the VR platform, and many others. Looks like VR may finally become a mainstream reality soon and can’t wait to get my hands on it.

The iPhone Demo

No matter what the critics have to say about the Apple iPhone. Scratches or no scratches, after watching this demo, it’s difficult to resist the temptation of buying one. The innovative design, the iPod plus the touch screen features make the iPhone a must have device of the new era. Apple Inc’s Phil Schiller shows John Blackstone the many features of the iPhone which launches in the US in June 2007.

Apple Introduces iPhone

It was speculated to come for a long time. At the Macworld 2007 keynote at San Francisco, Steve Jobs announced the launch of iPhone, a new age telephone device, which is going to shape the future of telecommunications and put pressure on some of the established players in the field. The iPhone introduces touchscreen navigation (yes..no stylus, only fingers) and uses the power of Mac OS X to run itself. A 2 megapixel camera, a widescreen iPod for music and video lovers, Safari for browsing the internet and Mail for sending emails through the touchscreen keypad, one couldn’t have asked for more from a device that fits in your palm.

Apple Launches MacbookPro

Apple MacbookproApple never fails to surprise you. Rather it’s a brand you’d always expect some fresh ideas. At the Macworld conference, Steve Jobs unveiled the new Intel chip based MacbookPro. This is the first product to be launched with Intel based chips after Apple switched from IBM Power PC chips.

The Macbookpros are powered by Intel’s new Core Duo processor technology and promise to be 4 times powerful then the G4s!

Also I was happy to note that my long standing wish of including an FM radio along with the iPods has come true. Apple has introduced an FM remote control with the device so music lovers can now play FM radio stations while the information is flashed on their iPod LCDs. Pretty neat eh! Time to think about buying one now.

Powerless Without Internet

The fact that I have not been able to post anything in my blog is because my internet connection has gone haywire at my house. Hathway says it’s a problem with my modem & they would send an engineer soon. This was on Sunday night, when I lodged my complaint. On monday I rang them up 5 times in a span of 4 hours in the evening to inquire about the status of my complaint, but to no result. Their server is down sometime or their software has crashed on the other.

I have never expected any prompt service from Hathway. Their plans are good but their support / service lags behind the rest. Infact, I have come to the conclusion (call it cynicism if you want) that in India people are interested in only selling the product to you. The rest is all your headache.

Anyways, I have been promised that the engineer will come today in the evening and I am pretty sure that he’s not going to come :-) Until then I am powerless.
