Of Tarts, Beer & All That

Beer MugWhen will I know everything and attain nirvana? This is a question I keep asking myself everytime I find myself in an embarassingly idiotic situation. We ordered some desserts in the office and it was my longtime wish to eat a tart. Let me honestly say that apart from a few references (and perhaps with some visual ones as well) from books, I had no clue how a tart tasted. This is my time to experiment with my palate, I told myself. So I went ahead and ordered a Lemon Tart and it finally arrived and before anyone could realise what I was doing I had started eating the lemon ‘cream’ from the so called ‘cup’. I also invited my friend Aadesh to the table to have a scoop and he did the same until everyone laughed their guts out. The tart was supposed to be eaten entirely with the ‘cup’ which was a bread. That explains why the cream tasted pretty much like our local shrikhand. Everyone had a good time laughing at me including our VP who’s going to speak to my Group Leader about the kind of “mentoring” he’s giving his lads.

The Big Bang(alore)

Amazingly I have started enjoying my travels to the various parts of the country now. Last week it was Delhi and today I came back from a quick tour of Bangalore – The IT City in the south. The only choice that we didn’t have was in staying overnight at this place.

With the travelling too much one has become critical about airline services. Since Kingfisher Airlines is set as a benchmark for services, all of them are compared ruthlessly with it. Unfortunately then, I would say, we had a booking with Indian Airlines (IA). Least to say the hostesses were far from presentable baring just one in the early morning flight schedule. Just one of them looked keen in serving the passengers, the rest looked like they were doing a routine job. The food wasn’t too good and there was no inflight entertainment provided like Kingfisher and I must say that the private airlines are taking away all the laurels from this 50 year old airline. OK I know I am asking far more from IA but it has to survive in this stiff competition.

Delhi Calling

Delhi HaatI had always wanted to see New Delhi, the power centre of Indian politics not that I haven’t been to this place before. But eversince the Metro has begun changing the lives of the delhites, I wanted to get a preview of how the city looks and feels now. A business trip to Delhi was the right moment to visit the city. I am sure that Delhi will become a world class city in the coming days. It’s exciting because of the way the political will has driven the development and left behind the bad memories of a city which had no future at all.

Confirmed @ TCS

Well sorry for my long absence from the blog but I was engaged in making my presentation for my early confirmation which finally happened yesterday. I was more tensed & nervous then when I was first interviewed at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The presentation I made was in Flash which was different from the rest who would normally use Powerpoint. It was segregated into 6 categories namely Production, Creative Design, Web Design, Client Projects, Internal Support & Future Plans. It was more of verbal discussion than anything else and I did a fine job of it. In the end my work, my presentation and my achievements in the short span at TCS were appreciated by the Head of Internal Branding and HR. I was so relieved after the interview that I ate like a hog later in the lunch time! :-)

Later in the evening, we went to Cafe Mondegar at Colaba where Suku, Giri, Sindhu, Randhir and Aadesh , we all chilled out. It was a party which they gave me for my confirmation and I am grateful to them. I was supposed to be there for half an hour but it stretched to 9 in the midnight.

Here’s to my happiness & prosperity at TCS. Cheers! :-)

Fairly Relaxed Today

A friday is a day when you actually are free from all the worries of the past week and are looking forward to spending time on the weekends. At the office though, we have been undergoing some horrific moments over the Banking website. Nevertheless, today was really a wonderful day for me. For a start, it was after a long time that I wore my favorite Provogue shirt :-)
