My Monsoon Shopping

Shopping BagThere was a rain scare in Mumbai today. It sounds very funny saying that but those of us who have seen 7/26 will not laugh. I spent 2 nights in the office sleeping on a maroon(ed) coloured mattress. This time when I heard about the incessant rains and flooding in some parts of Mumbai on TV, my mind went back to those mattresses again and those chilly nights I spent in the conference room. There was no way I was going to spend another hour in this office now. I quickly gathered some friends who were staying in the North of Mumbai and headed towards the station hoping that the trains services would be still running smoothly. After a very long long time, I caught a Bhayander local since I had Aadesh and Randhir accompanying me. One hour and I was happily home, thanking the god all the way. There were some moments of anxiety when the local stopped before Dadar for a while probably due to some signalling problem. We imagined ourselves wading through 6 feet water all the way to Borivli! For the uninitiated, the local trains take around 45 minutes to complete the journey between Dadar and Borivli.

A Day I Would Love to Forget!

I don’t know how many of us can foresee an eventful day when we wake up early morning. I couldn’t either and hence this article comes up :-)

It was like everything had to go wrong for me right from the word ‘go’. When I was taking mummy to the hotel from the hospital, the taxi driver took a longer route and I ended up paying out of my shallow pockets. He didn’t have the necessary change to give me too. Then on my way to the office I encountered another driver who did a similar thing by taking a longer route. I guess every one was briefed about taking their passengers on a ‘joy ride’ today by the Taxi Union. By the time my day was over and I met mummy again at the room, I took another taxi ride to the station. This time the driver didn’t have even 2 rupees to pay me the extra change for Rs. 20. So I obliged by fishing out the last penny that I could find from my big bag and yet it was 50ps less which he didn’t mind :-)

Macromedia Studio 8 Launch

Macromedia Studio 8I was priveleged to attend the launch of Macromedia Studio 8. I say so not because I received a special invite from Macromedia but my plans almost got scuttled with Jayant announcing the monthly marketing meet today. Thankfully Giri understood the importance of attending the seminar and I was relieved for half a day.

Confirmed @ TCS

Well sorry for my long absence from the blog but I was engaged in making my presentation for my early confirmation which finally happened yesterday. I was more tensed & nervous then when I was first interviewed at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The presentation I made was in Flash which was different from the rest who would normally use Powerpoint. It was segregated into 6 categories namely Production, Creative Design, Web Design, Client Projects, Internal Support & Future Plans. It was more of verbal discussion than anything else and I did a fine job of it. In the end my work, my presentation and my achievements in the short span at TCS were appreciated by the Head of Internal Branding and HR. I was so relieved after the interview that I ate like a hog later in the lunch time! :-)

Later in the evening, we went to Cafe Mondegar at Colaba where Suku, Giri, Sindhu, Randhir and Aadesh , we all chilled out. It was a party which they gave me for my confirmation and I am grateful to them. I was supposed to be there for half an hour but it stretched to 9 in the midnight.

Here’s to my happiness & prosperity at TCS. Cheers! :-)

Fairly Relaxed Today

A friday is a day when you actually are free from all the worries of the past week and are looking forward to spending time on the weekends. At the office though, we have been undergoing some horrific moments over the Banking website. Nevertheless, today was really a wonderful day for me. For a start, it was after a long time that I wore my favorite Provogue shirt :-)
