After all the hype created (the staff at a local multiplex was dressed up in the movie costume) and fueled by the Daler Mehndi controversy, Shaad Ali Sahgal’s (Saathiya, Bunty Aur Babli) latest film Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (Dance Baby Dance) turned out to be an all-gloss-no-substance film. Neither a romantic comedy nor a musical, basically there’s no story to be told here per se. Expectations from Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s music were heightened after their previous hit with Bunty Aur Babli (remember Kajra Re) but they fail to make hearts go Dhadak dhadak this time. And Amitabh, he’s been wasted. Wearing a colorful tapestry coat with a feather hat, strumming a strange guitar and prancing to the title song at a railway station, with dancers juggling around. Ultimately, by not uttering a single sentence in the movie, we are left wondering what role was Amitji enacting anyway?

Goodbye Yahoo! Photos
Current users might want to take note of this latest development. Yahoo! has decided to shut down it’s photo sharing service Yahoo! Photos and focus on its other twin, Flickr. I read this bit of rather surprising news on the Yodel blog. Curtains will formally come down on September 20, 2007 and the all the current users will be moved to a photo sharing service of their choice – Flickr, Kodak Gallery, Shutterfly, Snapfish, or Photobucket. At last, Safari for Windows!
I was pleased to hear the good news that Apple launched their Safari browser for Windows XP and Vista. I am surprised but happy that the Windows version has finally arrived. Does this mean the beginning of the end for its closest rival Firefox? we’ll have to wait and see.
Not amongst those willing to wait, I have installed Safari and I am writing this blurb from it. You can get the latest Public Beta 3 from this place and have fun!
Who's Children?
A sunny summer morning, as I walk past the trees and the lanes, bypassing the crowds to reach office on time. Droplets of sweat are marching down my face, as I try to stop them helplessly with my handkerchief. I approach a bus stop on my way, when suddenly the morning calm is shattered by a wailing child. As I look around, I find a mother chasing an urchin girl with a stick in her hand. The child, barely 2 years and only in her undies had already received the first blow on her thigh and was crying aloud in pain. She was running away, howling and trying to save her skin from further destruction. The mother was unrepentant though. She was swearing at the poor child and threw the stick at her which missed her narrowly. This chase had to end now unless the child gets brutally crushed under an oncoming bus, I said to myself still walking away from the incident.
